Proverbs 4:23

Welcome to Proverbs 4:23 Counseling. My name is Mike Bertsch and I am an ordained minister and I have been in pastoral ministry for 10 years. After several years in ministry, I decided I needed to be better equipped to care for God’s people. To do this I went to Southern Seminary and earned a Doctor of Ministry with a concentration in Biblical Counseling. Now I would like to extend this counseling ministry to you.

The focus of my doctoral work was premarital counseling for 2nd marriages. During my years in ministry, I have witnessed the heartbreak of divorce. I have also seen the joys and challenges that come with second marriages and putting together a stepfamily. Divorce and remarriage are issues near to my heart and I love working couples preparing to get remarried and putting together blended families. Let’s work together following Jesus in a new marriage!

I didn’t just find new ministry tools while I was at Southern Seminary, I found a whole movement of people dedicated to the Bible and helping people follow Jesus. The goal of Proverbs 4:23 Counseling is simple. I want to help you follow Jesus in whatever life situations you are in. Sometimes we suffer, how do we follow Jesus in our suffering? Sometimes we sin, how do we overcome sin and follow Jesus? Sometimes we just want to make the best decisions we can regarding things like money, marriage, kids, jobs, and church to name a few. How do we follow Jesus in the decisions we make? Biblical Counseling has often been called the Personal Ministry of the Word. Sunday morning sermons are great (at least us preachers hope so!), but sermons are the Public Ministry of the Word and are more general in nature. Sometimes we need the Personal Ministry of the Word. We need someone to help us walk through the specific details of our lives and navigate those details with the Word of God.

Counseling sessions are available in person or through Zoom. If you have any trouble booking an appointment, or the time you are able to meet is not available, please send me an email and we can work things out.
